"This is the End, My only Friend The End"
Like the men of the War, the female nurses were not looked at as heroes. Along with this, they became underrepresented in multiple areas. One victory for Women being represented during the war is the Vietnam Army Nurses Memorial
Even this memorial was not erected without controversy. Before this memorial was erected, individuals recorded not being able to receive signatures from not only American citizens, but the Vietnam Veterans themselves arguing that Women were not in Vietnam.
Even further, Women seeking help from organizations like the Veterans Affair weren’t seen as patients and were asked whose wife they were. They had to tell the VA, “I’m the veteran.”
