Vietnam 1969

Dust-off Choppers blades cracking against the eardrum, mistreatment of Vietnamese people, injuries from on-base accidents, finding a wedding ring wrapped around the finger of a bloodied amputated left arm.

These are the stories that Captain Lynne Morgan shared with her family in tapes she sent home during her tour in Vietnam 1969-70.

Stationed in Pleiku Vietnam, Morgan saw everything that the harsh war had to offer and should be considered a hero for the multiple lives she saved during the Vietnam War.

Unfortunately for many of the troops over in Vietnam, they were not greeted as hero’s when they came home: They were thrown aside, labeled negatively, and treated with the utmost dismay not only by their own people, but the Government for which they fought for.

One such group of individuals, often referred to as the forgotten veterans, received the brunt of this treatment. They were overlooked by their fellow veterans, denied representation, and even told “You weren’t In Vietnam” while petitioning for a memorial that represented their role in the Vietnam War.
